Similarly to the past editions, the most important part of the festival will be the NEW HORIZONS International Competition covering 16 films that have not yet been presented in Poland, and which are carefully selected from among hundreds of titles shown at international festivals and film fairs. One of the films will receive a GRAND PRIX - the festival's main prize awarded by the public.
The fourth edition of the NEW POLISH FILM Competition presents present full-length Polish productions, both features and documentaries. Polish films made after the beginning of 2008 may apply, even if they have been screened at other festivals in Poland and abroad. This way of selecting films will surely allow us to present the most interesting phenomena of the Polish cinema of this season and to submit it for evaluation of a young audience, quite different than at other Polish festivals.
The selected films will be judged by an international jury, who will choose the winner of the Wroc³aw Film Award, funded by the Mayor of Wroc³aw, the amount of which is PLN 100,000 (60,000 for the director and 40,000 for the producer). . The Marshal of Lower Silesia, who is the festival's partner, funded a special reward (PLN 40,000 for the best directorial debut.
